Vusi Thembekwayo’s Wife : Their Divorce is Getting Messy
Vusi Thembekwayo’s Wife’s name is Palesa Thembekwayo.
Vusi Thembekwayo is one of the richest entrepreneurs in South Africa, and his story of how he made his money is quite inspirational. And the journey with his wife and their relationship is quite a beautiful one.
Many people didn’t even know who Palesa was, as she has stayed out of the public eye. This was until she alleged that her husband Vusi Thembekwayo had abused her at their marital home.
Vusi Thembekwayo responded to the abuse allegations by revealing that his wife was abusing substances (allegedly).
From then on, the couple has been in the headlines for mostly their visits to the courts.
Who is Vusi Thembekwayo’s Wife?
Vusi Thembekwayo’s wife is an entrepreneur, wife and mother, her name is Palesa Makhetha Thembekwayo.
In happier times, Vusi would share how she was there for him in the beginning, when he had nothing. When he was trying to get his business started and the banks were looking for him to repossess the car that he was driving at the time, and he had to sleep at the office . . . she was his constant support.
She hasn’t been much in the public eye, Vusi Thembekwayo has introduced to her in the past, in one of his business events, and called her his rock.
Married Life and children
The couple tied the know in 2009, and share three children together. . . two boys and a girl.
Soon after the couple got married, in 2010 they were blessed with a son who they named Vusumuzi Nathaniel Thembekwayo III, in 2010.
In 2012 and 2017, they welcomed their other two children.
Vusi Thembekwayo’s wife Files Assault Charges?
In December 2021, Vusi Thembekwayo’s wife accused him of physically assaulting her during a heated argument.
According to Palesa Thembekwayo’s court statement, Vusi came home after an international trip, woke her up from her nap, and told her to leave their home. She says when she refused, he slapped her and dragged her down the stairs in their home.
He managed to get her into the car, and drove off with her, but she says she managed to get out of the car at one of the robots.
After the allegations went public, Vusi Thembekwayo denied ever abusing the wife. He reportedly was arrested and was later released on bail.
Then he dropped a bombshell of his own!
Vusi Thembekwayo’s wife substance abuse allegations
After his arrest came the abuse allegations, Vusi Thembekwayo responded by sharing that his wife was drunk on the day of the alleged assault. He shared that she has issues with substance and alcohol abuse.
Tweeps took this as an excuse to justify him slapping his wife, which didn’t sit well.
The couple were clearly in distress and it was clear that their issues were far from over.
In August 2022, Vusi Thembekwayo’s wife filed for divorce, by then it was clear that a reconciliation was not possible.
Vusi and Palesa Thembekwayo’s divorce
Palesa filed for divorce, citing abuse and cheating as her primary reason for wanting to leave the marriage.
Their divorce is getting very messy, and currently the couple are in a spat over their property that they own in Steyn City. Vusi is claiming that the wife is refusing to sign off an offer to purchase the property, which is under financial strain and is behind on payments. Vusi says he lost income due to Covid 19, and his finances were under strain due to loss of income and him having to support two households.
“From as early as 2021, I made at least three attempts to restructure the loan with the first respondent. The impact of Covid on my finances, as well as having to support two households, took a toll on my income,” The Sunday World quoted Thembekwayo speaking.
“I spoke to Palesa, and we agreed that the property would be put up for sale. This agreement was because I persuaded her that if the second respondent is executed on the property, we would lose all profits,” he added.
The couple had bought the property for investment purposes at the time and is estimated to be worth about R4 million. A buyer reportedly offered to buy it for R3.6 million, but the offer has since expired because of Palesa’s delays.
What’s worse, is that the bank has already begun legal proceedings against the Thembekwayo’s.
With these two, it seems things are going to get worse before they get better. It’s sad when things like these happen, especially when there are young children involved.
