The Boat Cruise Experience in Hartbeespoort

Hartbeespoort is beautiful . . . and the views by the dam are to die for. If you have been to Harties, then you know exactly what I am talking about, and if you haven’t been, then you should definitely go and experience this place.

I love that it’s less than an hour from Johannesburg, and it feels completely out of the city, a drive there is refreshing as it is exciting.

As part of the Fork and Knife Experience, one of our travel experiences was the boat cruise experience, where we take a few people to Hartbeespoort for an amazing experience on the boat. This includes a sunset cruise, meals and spending an entire night on the water on the boat and waking up to breathtaking views of the dam.

So my partner and I packed up our car with all the goodies, lilos (so we could pay in the water) and great food and off we went. Overnight parking is done at Boaters World, and it’s safe, so we had no worries there.

If you have not been on a speed boat (like me), you get to experience that too, because to get to the Catamaran (where all the magic happens), you get picked up by a speed boat, and what a ride it is! Imagine being surrounded by beauty and water all around, with the air blowing through your hair . . . it’s really exhilarating and just out of this world.

Now . . . allow me to talk about the Catamaran. It’s cute, it’s cozy and it has 4 cabins for overnight sleeps and 2 toilets on board. There’s nothing quite like being in the middle of nowhere being surrounded by water and beauty.

One of my favourite things to do is sunbathing on the sunbeds . . . and just taking it all in. And of course . . . if you love a good braai like I do . . . imagine experiencing that on the boat.

Before the braai . . . one of the magical things to do is the sunset cruise. I literally don’t have the words for this . . . it’s just an experience like no other. Imagine being in water, with your favourite human, listening to your favourite jams and just enjoying that boat cruise. It leaves you marveling at all the beauty that God has created and feeling extremely blessed.

Just imagine being rocked to bed by the water . . . simply put, it’s a beautiful experience.

What we did also was wake up around 5 in the morning, so as to catch that sunrise. The view is just breathtaking . . . there are no words to even describe how beautiful it is.

Between taking those early morning pics, catching the sunrise and relaxing over breakfast, all we really wanted to do was soak it even more before checking out.

Time is a thing . . . because it seems to just go by soo quickly. And before we knew it, it was time to say goodbye to this magical place.

Harties is beautiful, and the boat cruise is a really magical experience with the one you love, or with friends or family.
