Samsung Galaxy S23 Ultra, Galaxy S23+, and Galaxy S23 in South Africa

Samsung has revealed its new Galaxy S23 series of phones, which comes in three models, namely the Galaxy S23 Ultra, the Galaxy S23+ and the Galaxy S23.

Samsung South Africa has also confirmed local pricing for the devices, and if you are a lover of Samsung and are thinking of getting one, then you should know that the devices are stunning, can’t expect anything less from Samsung.

But more importantly, the price has increased – naturally, and they come in Phantom Black, Cream, Green, and Lavender.

In terms of pricing in South Africa, here is what you can expect from the new Samsung Galaxy series:

  • Samsung Galaxy S23 – R21 999,
  • Samsung Galaxy S23+ – R23 999,
  • Samsung Galaxy S23 Ultra – R32 999.

Samsung Galaxy S23 Ultra

Just the name Samsung Galaxy S23 Ultra, makes it clear that this phone offers something that other phones don’t have, and by all accounts, this phone is meant to be the ultimate camera phone for cinematographers and photographers.

Us being in content creation and mobile videography, this phone is a game changer. Samsung already do a great job with their phones when it comes to quality pictures even with low-light photography and the S23 Ultra gives a little more when it comes to that.

In South Africa, this phone is retailing at about R31000, which is obviously very expensive for most people. Just like the Galaxy S22 Ultra, the S23 Ultra comes in a giant screen, and it will be a fan favourite for many people. Sadly, it will be it’s high price that will prevent many from experiencing it.

The name “Ultra” already implies that this phone has many features that the average person will never come to use. It offers a closer zoom magnification than most people will probably need, and it comes in a massive 6.8-inch screen that’s bigger than the iPhone 14 Pro Max.

It comes with a lot of pluses, including it’s fast performance, the excellent main camera especially in low light, four years of Android OS updates, double storage and bright screen.

The only thing that we don’t like about this phone is the high price. . . which is understandable given what it offers.

Samsung Galaxy S23+

The Samsung Galaxy S23+ retails for R23 999, in South Africa. It has some of the same features as the Ultra, it just comes in a little smaller.

It has a powerful processor and it is packed with a lot of functionality as compared to the standard S23, and a better battery.

The S23+ comes in a 6.6-inch Super AMOLED 2X Infinity-O screen, which is beautiful. It comes in a 4,700mAh battery which is a bit bigger than the Galaxy S22+, which is a plus.

The Galaxy S23+ includes a 50MP main camera , a 10MP 3x optical telephoto camera and a 12MP ultra-wide camera. The selfie camera captures at 12MP. It captures very good images, but the Ultra still comes out tops in comparison.

The bottom line is that the phone has excellent performance, years of software upgrades, a great camera and a big vibrant display.

What we don’t like is that, just with the Samsung Galaxy S23 Ultra, the phone is quite expensive, and it has no S Pen.

Samsung Galaxy S23

By all standards, the Samsung Galaxy S23 is a great phone. However, when it’s compared to the other phones in the market, like the iPhone 14 Pro, and the S23 Ultra, then it lacks in a few areas.

It comes in Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 2, and it has a great camera, but it could have been better. The selfie camera has had an upgrade, but the rest of the cameras are pretty much the same. It comes with 3x optical zoom and it can also shoot 8K video, which is impressive.

The Samsung Galaxy S23 comes in both 128GB and 256GB storage, and both have 8GM of RAM.
