Jiva . . . the African dance Series is out on Netflix

Last week saw the release of JIVA! on Netflix  . . . the highly anticipated new original series which stars Noxolo Dlamini as the lead.

Noxolo Dlamini (Ntombi) is a talented dancer from Umlazi, who wants to follow her dream of being a dancer, but is frustrated that she has to keep her not-so-great-job to support her family. Her love life is also not that great, as she struggles with what happened in the past with her dancer lover who betrayed her, not to mention the fact that her mom is just not supportive of her dreams.

There seems to be hope for her as she learns about a dance competition that ignites her love and passion for dance again . . . with the cash prize looking very attractive as that could could be her way out of Umlazi and on to a better life.

There also seems to be hope for her love life as she meets a guy who’s really into her.

The cast is an all African cast including Noxolo Dlamini, Zamani Mbatha, Anga Makublo, Candice Modiselle, Tony Kgoroge, Sne Mbatha, Zazi Kunene and more.

The series is edgy, it’s fun to watch and if you are a lover of dance . . . then it’s something to check out.

I binged watched it and loved it . . . I loved that it showcased some great talent, and that it’s  strongly a women cast. Seeing Ntombi wrestle with herself on whether to follow her dreams or to stay in a job she doesn’t like just reminded me how important it is to follow ones dreams.

Overall . . . I loved it and would recommend it to everyone. The cast did an excellent job to bring the story to life. here’s the trailer below for what you can expect and look forward to:
