Cruz Vodka and SA Fashion Week Highlight Local Designers in Opening Event

CRUZ Vintage Black Vodka hosted one of the most prestigious fashion gatherings in South Africa to officiate the opening of South Africa Fashion Week, with the who’s who of the country’s fashion and entertainment world in attendance.

The event was a glamorous affair, held at the newly renovated Levelthree in Sandton, where guests indulged in decadent Cruz cocktails and high fashion inspired by New York City against the backdrop of Sandton’s skyline.
Upon arrival, guests were welcomed by red carpet host Chris Jaftha, and were treated to an exclusive evening of glitz and glam.


Award-winning local designer Paledi Segapo presented a stunning New York-inspired fashion installation, while designer Artclub and Friends provided the promoters with super cool branded ankle socks and cute tote bags. It was an unforgettable night to kick off the week’s celebrations.
The invite-only affair was a star-studded red carpet event that drew in a long list of well-known fashion-forward personalities, designers, comedians, and reality TV stars from South Africa.

Among the attendees were actresses Nambita Ben Mazwi, Lunathi Mampofu, and sisters Candice and Refilwe Modiselle, all of whom added to the glitz and glamour of the occasion.
The red carpet was graced by prominent South African fashion designers Scalo, Craig Jacobs from Fundunzi, Ole Ledimo from House of Ole, and Msukizi Mbane from Imprint. Alongside them were some of the country’s top musical artists, including Tamara Dey, Gigi La Mayne, KLA, Money Badoo, and Limpopo’s own Makhadzi, who all added to the glamour of the event.


Adding to the style quotient of the evening were industry sweethearts Theo and Vourne Kgosinkwe, who were decked out in brightly-colored locally-designed pieces. Accompanying them were actor Sandile Mhlangu and his beau Mbali Nkosi, who also looked stunning in their ensembles.
The opening event of SA Fashion Week was an unforgettable evening filled with entertainment from the country’s top DJs, including DJ Maphorisa, Musa Keys, DJ Venom, and DJ K Mat. The talented Simmy also graced the stage with her captivating performance, leaving the audience electrified.

The exquisite taste of handcrafted New York Vodka was the perfect addition to the occasion, marking the start of a week-long celebration of the best of South African fashion.
From today until Saturday, 22 April, the Mall of Africa will be the stage for three days of remarkable South African fashion, showcasing to both a local and international audience. The event promises to be a highlight on the fashion calendar, not to be missed.
