Abdul Khoza Leaves Showmax’s The Wife

Abdul Khoza who plays Nqoba Zulu in the award winning fan favourite series on Showmax, The Wife is exiting the show to the disappontment of a lot of fans.

The Wife has become one of South Africa’s most popular and exciting shows, and from the time it debuted back in 2021, it has been on the trending list for my times only.

The Wife is based on the best-selling book of the same name by Dudu Busani-Dube.

As fans of the show, we all fell in love with Nqoba and his hot “headedness” and together with his onscreen partner Mandisa (Zikhona Sodlaka), we saw their love story unfold. Their relationship wasn’t perfect, but we got to love how they supported one another.

On the latest episode of The Wife that aired this week, fans had to come to the acceptance that Nqoba is gone. And I must say fans of the show are not ok!

Zikhona Sodlaka, his onscreen partner Mandisa had this to say:

Mandisa and Nqoba became Mzansi’s most relatable and loved couple. “What an incredible opportunity it is to work with such a talented man,” says Zikhona.

“I think our chemistry worked because of how dynamic yet similar our characters are. The one is a female version of the other and vice versa. He is the scene partner I didn’t know I needed. We got to play so much on set.”

It’s clear that he brought such great workmanship on set for the show, based on what his costars are sayig about him. Fans were obviously devastated that he was killed in the series, and he has since taken to Instagram to thank his fans for supporting him and the show.

“I’d like to thank everyone who supported my craft. I also want to extend my gratitude to everyone who showed me love while I was acting on The Wife. I will always love you. In the same breath, I’d like to apologise to everyone who was hurt by my exit.”

“I cannot change or influence any show to keep any of my characters once they have written the story. I am just an actor right now, hope we see each other on our next journey. I will forever be honoured and humbled by the love of our viewers. We appreciate each and everyone of you. Thank you beautiful Mzansi.”
